Insights from the Tekforstå Conference 2026: Advancing Technology Comprehension in Education
Over 500 people from across the education sector participated in this year’s Tekforstå Conference April 23 in Odense. The conference offered a shared space for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to engage with current developments and future directions in the field of Technology Comprehension.
Keynotes that shaped the 2026 programme
Curriculum renewal and the integration of technology understanding
Mark Holler delivered an updated analysis of the curriculum renewal process and the formal establishment of technology comprehension (dansk: teknologiforståelse) as both a practical‑musical elective and an integrated element in Danish, mathematics, and science/technology. His keynote mapped the progression from experimental subject to fully implemented school subject, highlighting the pedagogical and structural implications leading up to the 2027 rollout.
Strengthening critical thinking through Socratic AI
Stefania Druga introduced Socratic AI as a pedagogical framework for developing students who engage with AI critically rather than passively. She positioned AI literacy as a core component of digital citizenship and demonstrated how inquiry‑based approaches can support responsible, transparent, and reflective use of AI in teaching and learning.
Exploring technology in ways that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion
Pernille Bjørn presented practice‑oriented makerspace methodologies that encourage students to explore and shape technology in inclusive and reflective ways. Her keynote illustrated how learning environments can be designed to support diverse perspectives and equitable participation, thereby strengthening both technological understanding and inclusive educational practice.
The conference will return next year, continuing the shared work of strengthening Technology Comprehension across the education sector.
