The international postdocs are pouring in – now the task is to make them stay
International researchers are coming to the country in large numbers for newly created postdoc positions, which calls for an active effort to retain this vast pool of talent, according to DI. Belgian Maarten Van Michelsen has himself had a smooth transition into the industry but calls for support in translating specialized skills from academia.
For Belgian Maarten Van Mechelen, it wasn’t specifically Denmark that attracted him when he ended up settling here five years ago. As is likely often the case for members of the global research community, it was an interesting research opportunity that determined the destination.
In this case, the main attraction was a specific person: the Danish professor Ole Sejer Iversen. He is considered one of the world’s leading researchers in the field of child-computer interaction.
