Starting in 2027, technology comprehension will be integrated into primary and lower secondary education—both as part of existing subjects and as an elective in the later years. The key question is how we prepare for this shift and how schools and municipalities ensure that all children and young people develop the necessary skills to be active citizens in a digitalized society. At the TEKFORSTÅ Conference 2025, we will explore answers and solutions together through presentations, workshops, and meaningful discussions.

Four Key Themes
"Ready for Technology Comprehension" requires a focus on both teaching development and school transformation. Therefore, TEKFORSTÅ is built around four key themes:
- Technology Comprehension for All
- Getting Started with Electives
- Technology Comprehension in Subjects
- Leadershop & School Developmen
Apart from CCTD researchers presenting at Tekforstå you can also meet
Greta Björk Gudmundsdottir, Universitetet i Oslo, Digital competence in Norway – where to next?
This lecture will provide an overview of the state of digital competence in Norwegian schools. With practical examples, Gudmundsdottir will present how digital competence is being addressed in schools and in teacher education. She will address both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, with a special emphasis on digital responsibility and the importance of teachers’ professional digital competence.
Netta Livari, Professor, University of Oulu
This workshop explores ways to empower children to take an active role as changemakers in today’s digital world. It centers on the concept of Transformative Agency, inviting participants to share and discuss research and practical approaches for equipping children with the skills and mindset needed to critically engage with digital technologies. The workshop will focus on how children can design, adjust or envision new technology in ways that reflect their values, meet their needs, and support their aspirations. Ultimately, the goal is to inspire discussions about how this work can contribute to children engaging in the development of sustainable and inclusive futures, highlighting technology’s role in fostering democratic and ethical development.
The conference is hosted by Knowledge Center for Digital Technology in collaboration with Odense Kommune and supported by Villum Fonden.
